ST: How did Google find you?

DS: We’ve been lucky. A lot of the local media have been really
supportive. A website called ConcentrateMedia.com created a four-
minute video about SolarYpsi that’s on YouTube ( youtube.com/
watch?v=4hZTiUMi9q8). That video explains more about how solar
power works. I’m convinced that video led to the SEIA (Solar Energy
Industries Association) finding Solar Ypsi and putting us in a small clip of
one of their webisodes ( youtube.com/watch?v=wB0ehevOShA). Then
this last spring, Google just called the Ypsi Food Co-op and said, “Hey,
we want to learn more about Solar Ypsi.”
I talked to [the producer] quite a few times on the phone, and then
this past summer, they spent three days videotaping Ypsilanti. Initially I
thought it was just going to be a You Tube video. They did mention that
it might go on TV and I thought, “OK, yeah, maybe it will go on TV.” The
funny part of the story is, at my house, we don’t get any TV [reception].
We’ve had people calling us saying, “Hey, you’re on right before the Lions
