Standard practices:
● File intervention is subject to charges to the advertiser.
● Pre-flight to troubleshoot prior to submission.
● Use “collect for output” or “package” function to capture elements
required for accurate output.
Proofing: SWOP certified proofs are preferred. Hard-copy color
proof of actual file at 100% is acceptable. In absence of an acceptable
proof, SOLAR TODAY is not responsible for color reproduction. SOLAR
TODAY is not responsible for returning proofs.
Camera-ready art: Advertising rates assume camera-ready art and
do not include photography, copy-writing, scanning creative work or
design. Any materials that do not meet the above specifications will be
converted and charges will be billed to the advertiser. Costs incurred
for alterations or necessary repairs to advertising material will be
charged to the advertiser.
Inserts: Rates for bound-in inserts are quoted individually based on
production costs incurred; pre-printed loose inserts quoted individually based on circulation.
Advertising Policies Terms and Conditions
Invoices are due net 30 days with approved credit. Interest of 1. 5 percent
per month will be added to all past due balances. First-time advertisers
must submit a credit application or provide payment in full with insertion
order. A 2 percent discount will apply to all prepaid advertising orders.
Advertiser agrees to pay all costs of collection, including reasonable
attorney’s fees incurred by publisher in connection with the collection of
any past due account of advertiser.
Online Advertising Orders/Payment
Advertisers must complete an insertion order. Prepayment is required.
We accept checks, money orders, VISA, MasterCard, American Express and
Discover. Ads will not be activated online until payment is received. Once
payment is received, the ad will be posted within 72 business hours and a
confirmation will be sent to your e-mail address. All advertising is subject
to publisher’s approval.
Advertisers will be short-rated if, within a 12-month period from the date
of the first insertion, they do not use the amount of space upon which
their billing has been based. Advertisers will be rebilled.
Commissions and Discounts
Agency Commission
Fifteen percent of gross billing allowed only to recognized agencies on
space, color, bleed and position, provided account is paid within 30 days
of invoice date. In the event of non-payment, publisher reserves the right
to hold advertiser and/or its advertising agency jointly and severally liable
for such monies as are due and payable to publisher.
Ad Cancellations
All cancellations must be in writing and will not be considered accepted
until confirmed by the sales representative. No cancellation will be
accepted after the issue space closing date. Contracts for covers are noncancelable for period contracted.
Publisher’s Protective Clauses
In consideration of publication of an advertisement, the advertiser and
the agency, jointly and severally, will indemnify and hold harmless the
American Solar Energy Society, its officers, agents and employees against
expenses (including legal fees) and losses resulting from the publication
of the contents of the advertisement, including, without limitation, claims
or suits for libel, violation of the right of privacy, copyright infringement
or plagiarism.
The publisher will not be bound by any conditions printed or otherwise appearing on order blanks or copy instructions when such conditions conflict with policies set forth on this rate card.
All advertisements are accepted and published by the publisher
on the representation of the agency and the advertiser that both are
authorized to publish the entire contents and subject matter of the
advertisement. At its discretion, the publisher may refuse any ad deemed
inappropriate or in conflict with its mission and objectives.
Rates are subject to change with 60 days notice.
The publisher is not liable for delays in delivery and/or non-delivery
in the event of an Act of God, action by any government or quasi-gov-ernmental entity, fire, flood, insurrection, riot, explosion, embargo, strikes
(whether legal or illegal), labor or materials shortage, transportation interruption of any kind, work slowdown, or any condition beyond the control
of the publisher affecting production or delivery in any manner.
