Westinghouse Launches
235-Watt AC Module
Westinghouse Solar in April introduced a 235-watt integrated solar
module system, using a factory-mounted Enphase M190 microinverter
to generate 240 VAC on the roof. Like the company’s 175-watt unit, the
new system comes preassembled with its own self-grounding rack, ready to be attached to
a variety of self-flashing roof penetrations. According to Marketing Director Gary Mull, by
including all elements of the system in a package price with the larger-capacity panel, the
company has pushed hardware costs below $3 per peak watt, while reducing
installation time by about 50 percent. The new module, rated at 14. 4 percent AC efficiency,
measures 65 by 39. 3 inches (1.65 by 1 meter) and weighs 51 lb ( 23 kg). The product is
sold directly to installers and, at retail, through Lowe’s Home Improvement outlets.
