Later, he and his son started Solaron Corp., which sold the solar products he developed and used in his own home. Löf even found time to consult for the United Nations and the State Department and was involved in numerous foreign exchange programs and projects that sought to bring solar technologies to the developing world.

Löf was an ASES Fellow and, in 1980, was awarded the society’s Charles Greeley Abbot Award, ASES’ most prestigious recognition.

“Dr. Löf was a brilliant engineer and a true gentleman and will be greatly missed,” said Steve Sargent, a former student of Löf’s and president of the Colorado Renewable Energy Society.

New Members for ASES Board

Four new members join the ASES Board of Directors as of Jan. 1. Nathalie Osborn is the board’s new education committee representative, and Trudy Forsyth is serving as the board’s small-wind division representative. Jeff Peterson and Toni Bouchard are the board’s new at-large representatives. They replace board members Travis Bradford, Mary Spruill, Dave Renné and Claudia Wentworth, whose terms expired in December.

At its October meeting, the board also named Jeff Lyng as its new chair-elect and Bill Poulin as its new treasurer.
