ASES Teams Up With Solar nation
Adding a powerful public policy voice
to its fold, the American Solar Energy
Society (ASES) is partnering with Solar
Nation ( solar-nation.org), an organization
encouraging grassroots advocacy for renewable
energy-friendly legislation.
In May, ASES announced its acquisition
of Solar Nation. Solar Nation will now work
as an arm of ASES, giving the organization a
louder voice on policy efforts in capitols across
the nation.
“By joining forces both organizations will
be able to take advantage of natural synergies
to expand outreach and grassroots advocacy
efforts in collaboration with industry partners,”
said Brad Collins, executive director of ASES.
“We welcome Solar Nation and its outstanding
community of solar citizens.”
Solar Nation was founded in 2007 under the
umbrella of Green America. The organization is
run by Chris Stimpson, who was previously the
founding director of Clean Power Now (clean
powernow.org), a grassroots group that advocated for utility-scale renewable energy projects.
As Solar Nation’s executive campaigner,
Stimpson has spent the last two years helping
individuals and groups nationwide, including
many ASES chapters, to push for pro-solar policy
changes at the local, state and national levels. The
organization offers interested citizens informa-
tion on solar energy and advocacy: how solar
energy works, the legislative pieces that need to
be put in place to help it spread and the steps
get involved:
