citizens can take to help lawmakers make those
policies happen.
Teaming up with ASES will give Solar
Nation the additional resources it needs to
continue and expand its work, while strengthening ASES’ policy focus. Stimpson will also
continue to work with other advocacy organizations to maximize their collective impact. With
like-minded organizations working together to
achieve common goals, Stimpson said, it will be
hard for lawmakers to disregard the renewable
energy community.
“When people start speaking out about this
— e-mailing and calling their legislators — it’s
something that legislators cannot, or should not,
be able to ignore,” he said. “When they get the
same message from different constituents, they
will ignore it at their peril.”
ASES National Solar Tour
Celebrates 14th Anniversary
The largest grassroots solar energy event in America, the National Solar Tour, will celebrate its 14th
anniversary on Oct. 3. In 2008, more than 140,000
people nationwide saw firsthand how their neighbors
are using solar energy, energy efficiency and other
sustainable technologies to reduce their monthly utility bills and help tackle climate change.
Join the renewable energy revolution by participating, either as an attendee or by putting your home
or building on the tour. For complete information,
please go to nationalsolartour.org or contact Tour
Manager Richard Burns at rburns@ases.org. The
tour is a terrific opportunity to educate yourself and
inspire others!
