Measure Efficiency
Photovoltaic panels are specified under standard
test conditions of 1,000 watts per square meter
of solar radiation, 25˚C (77˚F), air mass of 1.5 and
no wind. To measure performance under real-world conditions, however, additional measurements are required. That’s where pyranometers
come in.
When the Kipp & Zonen pyranometer is
mounted at the same angle as the PV panel, it
can be used to calculate the panel’s efficiency.
It can also indicate failing panels or cells by a
sudden drop in efficiency or indicate the need
for panel cleaning by showing a gradual decline
in efficiency. To measure direct radiation, Kipp &
Zonen offers the ChP 1 Pyrheliometer, together
with a SOLYS 2 or 2AP Sun Tracker.

Krannich Launches Time-Saving
Grounding Clip
The WEEB grounding clip was specially designed by Wiley Electronics LLC for use
with K2 Mounting Systems. The WEEB grounding clip significantly reduces labor
time and material costs associated with UL and nEC requirements for grounding
and bonding of PV equipment.
There is no longer any need to install lugs and run grounding wire to every
PV module. The patented design features stainless steel teeth that pierce into
anodized aluminum, providing a gas-tight connection that prevents oxidation.
