Microinverter Improves array Reliability
The Enphase microinverter mounts beneath a 24-volt DC photovoltaic module and produces 240 volt
AC output for direct connection to a utility grid. By equipping each module with its own inverter, reliability of the entire array is assured when one or more modules fails. Peak operating temperatures are reduced,
with expected longer operating life. An energy
management unit inside the building transmits
performance data for monitoring on a website.

Oerlikon Introduces New Vacuum Pumps
OerLiKON LeybOLd
Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum has added the TW501 and TW2401 to
its line of turbomolecular vacuum pumps, designed for industrial and
R thin-film coating applications. The T W501 achieves pumping speeds
up to 450 liters per second (l/s), and the TW2401 can reach pumping
speeds of 2,400 l/s. Both models may be installed at any orientation, are
available with air or water cooling, offer a high fore-vacuum tolerance
up to 2. 5 mbar and are controlled by a separate frequency converter for
desktop use or rack installation. The drive parameters can be set and
monitored via a serial interface (RS232) or a display. oerlikon.com
Carport Kit Bolts together Quickly
LUmOs
The Lumos two-car carport is a turnkey 3.42-k W solar installation
that can be delivered anywhere and set up in a day. The roof is made
from 18 Sanyo HI T double-sided HIP-190DA3 solar panels. The bifacial
panels generate electricity from direct sunlight and also from ambient
light that has passed through the panel or is reflected from the concrete
floor or from the car roof. The included inverter is ready for grid-tie
application. The structure is designed to handle snow loads and comes
complete with a professional engineering stamp. The cost is about
$36,000. Local rebates for PV systems may apply, and the carport is
eligible for the 30 percent federal tax credit. lumossolar.com
